Marcus Hamburgers: A Retro Culinary Experience in Hamtramck

Very old-school spot with reasonable prices. Some meals are still under $10, which is hard to find these days. It really reminds me of the classic burger joints from back in ’83 — simple, good food and a nostalgic atmosphere. Definitely worth stopping by if you like that old-school feel.

I've been eating these hamburgers for 65 years. Different owners, but still the same. The neighborhood has changed over the years, but it doesn't bother me. It's an adventure and great burgers. I still see people from the suburbs come to this gem, because of their fond memories of what was. The burgers, still are.

This is not your average coney place as it is a little off the beat and path. This burger is shaped as a hot dog and tasted pretty good. owner was nice. FYI, this is a Cash only establishment!

A vestige of a bygone era, Marcus Hamburgers serves up simple yet delicious diner fare for affordable prices. The coney and hamburger (which is uniquely oblong and served in a hot dog bun) are both flavourful and filling. With helpful staff and a long zig-zagging counter to eat at, Marcus is a must visit for locals and tourists alike.

The world needs more places like this. The hot dog shaped, steamed burger in a hot dog bun seems odd, but it totally works. The coney sauce is sweet and has a unique taste.

When I was a child, 60 years ago we would go for lunch after visiting the cemetery. My daughter and I stopped there today and the hamburgers were just as I remembered them! They have a new fan. Thank you for the memories! Best hamburger ever!

I may have just "found" my new favorite place - Marcus Hamburgers on 6 Mile in Detroit (not too far from the Two Way and Buddy's. It's been here nearly 100 years. Their "claim to fame" is their rectangular hamburgers, served in a hot dog bun. Food is pretty standard, but very obviously made with love. Can't wait to introduce it to everybody!

Never judge a book by its cover. Drove by this restaurant hundreds of times going to see my girlfriend who lived off 6 mile by the cemetery. Never once did I ever give it a thought to stop in and try the food. 50 + years later, while picking up paczki's at sweetheart bakery on Kelly and seven mile, I finally took a chance to check it off my bucket list. Natasha, our server, was genuinely friendly as my wife and I both had an original Marcus hamburger. Delicious. Sitting there on the counter stool, I felt that I was in no hurry to leave as other patrons were greeted by names as they entered or left. Overall value, priceless.
